New Zealand Cricket Team is all set to tour Pakistan for 2 Tests and 3 ODIs. The 1st Test match is set to commence on 26th December (Monday) at Karachi. The Men in Green are still in the race for World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) as they have to win register comprehensive victories.

New Zealand would be starting a new Test era under the captaincy of Tim Southee. The Black Caps had a forgettable WTC 2021-23 where they are reeling at 9th position. This would be Kiwis’ first tour after  1994 as earlier in 2021 they had backed out in the middle of the tour citing security reasons.

Karachi to Host 2nd Test Match

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) & New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have mutually agreed to shift the 2nd Test Match from Multan to Karachi due to foggy conditions. There has been a change in the date of the 2nd Test Match from 3rd January to 2nd January 2023.  All the matches of the tour are going to be played in Karachi.

Revised Schedule:

26-30 December – 1st Test, Karachi

2-6 January – 2nd Test, Karachi

9 January – 1st ODI, Karachi

11 January – 2nd ODI, Karachi

13 January – 3rd ODI, Karachi

Fascinating Contest on Cards

Apart from the Test Series, New Zealand is also going to play a bilateral ODI Series. With less than a year left for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, both teams would get ample match practice. Pakistan currently is placed 6th in World Super League Points Table with 120 points from 18 matches.

New Zealand would be hoping that the team continues the good run. Earlier they defeated a powerful Indian team against all odds. The Black Caps are placed at 2nd place with 130 points from 18 matches. Skipper Kane Williamson would be well aware of the fact that they cannot take Pakistan lightly.
