The 37-year-old India National Cricket Team left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has endured yet another failure in ODIs as he got out for a low score in the third game against Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

The dead rubber third ODI of the three-match series between Litton Das-led Bangladesh and KL Rahul-led India is being played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday, December 10. The Bangla Tigers have already sealed the series after winning the first two ODIs and they are eyeing a Banglawash.

In the third ODI, Bangladesh won the toss and asked India to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan got a new opening partner in Ishan Kishan as Rohit Sharma got ruled out of the match due to a thumb injury, which he sustained during the second ODI.

Bangladesh star Mehidy Hasan Miraz came to bowl his first over in the 5th over of the innings and trapped Shikhar Dhawan LBW on the first ball. He bowled a length ball sliding in from round the wicket and Dhawan looked to block it out but missed and the ball slammed into the pads.

Bangladesh players made a big LBW appeal, but the on-field umpire turned it down. Bangladesh captain Litton Das opted to take a review and the third umpire made the decision that the ball was hitting the pad first and the ball-tracking indicated that the ball would have crashed into the leg stump.

Dhawan only scored 3 runs off 8 balls, before being cleaned up by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. This was his third single-digit score in the series as he had registered scores of 7 and 8 in the first two ODIs. Overall, in his last ten ODIs, Dhawan has registered scores of 3, 8, 7, 28, 3, 72, 8, 13, 4 and 40.

Dhawan has received good backing from the team management and in the absence of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, he has even led the side in several ODI series this year. However, with Shubman Gill waiting in the wings, there is a possibility of him getting dropped from the squad ahead of the next home series against Sri Lanka.

In ODI this year, Shikhar Dhawan has scored 688 runs at an average of 34.4 and a strike rate of 74.21, including 6 half-centuries and his dot ball percentage is 60.
