Star India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli was extremely disappointed after being cleaned up by the 28-year-old Bangladesh National Cricket Team pacer Ebadot Hossain in the second ODI of the India tour of Bangladesh 2022.

The second ODI of the three-match series between Rohit Sharma-led India and Litton Das-led Bangladesh is being played at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday, December 7.

Opening the innings for India, Virat Kohli failed miserably with the bat as he managed to register only 5 runs off 6 balls, before being dismissed in the second over itself. This was Kohli’s second successive failure in the series as he was dismissed at the score of 9 in the first ODI at the same venue.

Meanwhile, on the 5th ball of the 2nd over, Ebadot Hossain bowled a short ball just outside off-stump and Kohli went for the pull shot. However, the modern-day batting great failed to make a good connection with the ball and he dragged it back onto the stumps via a thick bottom edge.

Why Virat Kohli Opened The Innings In The 2nd ODI?

The batting maestro Virat Kohli was forced to open the innings for India in the second ODI alongside Shikhar Dhawan because captain Rohit Sharma was unable to bat due to a thumb injury that he sustained earlier in the match.

Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury while fielding in the first innings of the match. The 35-year-old was fielding in the slip cordon when the right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj drew an outside edge from Anamul Haque. The ball went towards Rohit Sharma and he was unable to grab a catch. Also, in the process, he ended up hurting his thumb and walked off the field to get some treatment.

KL Rahul was leading India in Rohit’s absence and Rajat Patidar replaced the Indian captain on the field. After the incident, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on Rohit Sharma’s injury, asserting that he was assessed by the BCCI medical team and was sent for scans.
