Former Indian player Wasim Jaffer said Hardik Pandya will walk into any team with his current form. Hardik played an important knock of 71 off 55 balls, with his innings laced with 10 fours.

The all-rounder played a second fiddle to Rishabh Pant in their alliance of 133 runs to help India win by five wickets. Although Hardik couldn’t stay till the end to finish the game, but he ensured to bail India out from a precarious position of 72 for four in the 17th over.

Hardik also picked the wickets of Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler to finish with figures of 4 for 24 from seven overs, including three maiden overs. The 28-year-old became the fifth Indian player to achieve the record of scoring a fifty and picking four wickets in the same ODI match.

Hardik Pandya has been on top of his game since the IPL: Wasim Jaffer

Hardik scored his maiden T20I fifty apart from registering his career-best figures in the format – 4 for 33- in the first T20I against England in Southampton. Jaffer believes the Indian all-rounder is flourishing since leading Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL cup this year.

“Hardik Pandya has been on top of his game since the IPL. The way he has batted, bowled and how he led his side in the IPL, he’s showing a very mature mindset. We all know Pandya walks into the Indian side if he’s able to bowl,” Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo.

“But if he performs this well, he walks into any side pretty easily. It’s invaluable to have him in the side in white-ball cricket. It will be very heartening for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to see him play like this,” he added.

Hardik became the fifth Indian player to score a half-century and pick four wickets in the 50-over format. Hardik joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Kris Srikkanth, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh to achieve the feat.
