ENG vs IND: The Manner In Which Suryakumar Yadav Was Playing, India Should Have Won The Match - Virender Sehwag
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag felt Suryakumar Yadav needed a helping hand at the other end and was left stranded before falling in the third T20I against England.
Suryakumar scored his first T20I century and became only the fifth Indian to record a hundred in the shortest format on Sunday. Unfortunately, it came in a losing cause as India fell short by 17 runs while chasing 216.
“He built his innings, he played cautiously for the first 5-10 balls but after that, the fours and sixes started coming, and then the manner in which he was playing, India should have won the match. He needed a supporting role from someone who could stand with him and play,” Sehwag told Sony Sports.
Apart from Suryakumar, the rest struggled to get going which cost the visitors. The 31-year-old was batting in a league of his own and couldn’t find support from anyone.

“Such a knock would have looked better if it was on the winning side” – Virender Sehwag
Suryakumar’s century will go down as one of the finest in T20 cricket as it included some exquisite shots, including sixes hit over backward point which were a treat to watch.
“Shreyas Iyer scored 28 runs off 23 balls and he definitely did support him for some time, but the batters after that did not give him company. Such a knock would have looked better if it was on the winning side and there would have been more discussions about it, now we will only say that it was a good knock but India lost,” he added.
The series ended 2-1 in favour of India and it is also Rohit Sharma’s first loss as skipper since taking over full-time.
