Former cricketer Saba Karim stressed the need for Indian batter, Virat Kohli to find form and score runs in India’s upcoming tour of England.

Kohli has been struggling to score consistently and he hasn’t converted a start into anything significant for a while. The 33-year-old will need to turn up for the one-off Test against England if India has to win.

I feel now that the captaincy burden has been removed from Virat Kohli’s shoulders, if he bats more freely, concentrates on his preparation and bats while thinking about how the bowler is trying to get him out, we will see runs from him again. Virat scoring runs is extremely necessary for India,” Karim told India News.

Karim also pointed out that Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul provided great starts last time around and someone else will have to replicate the same in the absence of the latter. Good starts are needed in tough batting conditions like England and Rohit will hope to provide the same.

Yes, it will definitely impact. It will be very difficult to win if your main batters don’t score runs. We have seen where England’s strengths lie and to counter that it is necessary that your match-winners, who have the experience, score runs, the way Joe Root and Ben Stokes did for England.”
