Former England National Cricket Team off-spinner Graeme Swann has said that the senior India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli, apart from the inside edge after Lunch and the ball he got dismissed, looked “really composed” out in the middle on Day 1 of the 5th Test against England National Cricket Team.

Virat Kohli scored 11 runs off 19 balls, including 2 fours, in the rescheduled Test match at the Edgbaston, Birmingham. Young England pacer Matthew Potts picked the huge wicket for his team in the 25th over as Kohli got an inside edge onto the stumps when he was indecisive about leaving or playing at a length ball.

Meanwhile, former England spinner Swann said that Kohli was quite unlucky with his dismissal in the first innings of the Test match.

“I must say apart from that inside edge (after Lunch) and the ball he got out today, Kohli looked really composed out there. if you see his legs, he was trying to get outside the off-stump. I am going to say he was quite unlucky,” Swann told Sony Sports

Former England spinner further said that Kohli shouldn’t worry about his first innings dismissal as he looked composed out in the middle.

“I don’t think he should worry too much about that. He looked composed and he was hungry for runs. And he looked devastated when he got out. I was looking at this, when a top-order batter gets out, if they just walk off, it doesn’t look right. He didn’t, he looked devastated as he wanted it today,” Swann said.

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had a remarkable 222-run partnership in 239 balls on Day 1 and they helped India make a stellar comeback in the match.

Pant was dismissed by Joe Root in the 67th over and he scored 146 runs off 111 balls, including 19 fours and 4 sixes. At stumps on Day 1, India were at 338/7 and Jadeja was unbeaten at 83.

Meanwhile, Swann has said that Kohli might get going in the second innings of the 5th Test, especially after looking at the dominance of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja.

“I won’t be surprised after watching Rishabh and Jadeja, he probably would want to tuck in in the second innings,” Swann added.
