Sourav Ganguly, president of the BCCI, stated that India head coach Rahul Dravid and the team management are likely to play a settled unit from the England T20Is with the players they believe will go on to play in the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

There have been a lot of experimentation with the Indian T20 team, with regulars Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ravindra Jadeja either resting or nursing injuries.

“Rahul Dravid (Team India head coach) is looking into it. He has been planning to play a settled set of players at some stage.

“Probably from the England tour next month, we will start playing with players who are likely to play in the T20 World Cup in October,” Ganguly told The Times of India when asked whether it is ideal to rotate players in the year of an ICC event.

So far, India’s youthful guns have performed admirably in the South Africa series. They came back from a 2-0 deficit to win back-to-back matches to force a decider.

Ishan Kishan, Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Avesh Khan have all made compelling arguments for a place in India’s T20 World Cup team. Captain Rishabh Pant and batter Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, have underperformed and will be under a lot of pressure to maintain their positions.

Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav will be back in the mix for the Ireland bilateral series, which starts on June 26. Rahul Tripathi, a young top-order hitter, has been called up for the first time, although he is unlikely to play.

India will play three T20Is in England, with skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja expected to return.

Bumrah, Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the pacers to watch in the bowling department. Deepak Chahar (if he regains fitness), Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan will compete for the remaining berths.

India’s spin assault will very certainly be led by Yuzvendra Chahal. It’ll be intriguing to see who is chosen as a back-up among Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi.
