Hardik Pandya, India’s all-rounder, played a key role in India’s 50-run win over England in the first T20I at Southampton on Thursday.
Hardik has become the first Indian in T20 cricket history to accomplish this fascinating combination with a 4-wicket haul and 51 runs with the bat.

In the history of Indian cricket, no player has ever been able to score fifty runs while also taking four wickets. Only Yuvraj Singh, who made a half-century and took three wickets in the same game, comes close to Hardik.

Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Hafeez, Shane Watson, and Samiullah Shinwari are the only players in the history of cricket who have ever taken four wickets and scored fifty runs or more in the same game.
India’s Hardik batted at No. 5 and appeared at ease right away. He played his strokes without any hesitation. Hardik scored 51 before being removed by Reece Topley, with 6 fours and 1 six.

Hardik himself also discussed his performance and the record after the game.
“When I last played a T20 match in England, I believe I took 4 wickets and made around 30 runs. Since I was the first Indian to reach fifty runs and claim four wickets, I kind of anticipated that “At the presentation ceremony, he said.
“I thought I needed the break. Giving you all is required; else, there is no purpose to playing. So I needed that break, and I am glad I am here now” he continued.
When India takes on England in the second T20I, they will be favoured to win the series. With Hardik Pandya in excellent form with both bat and ball, India will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the shortest format and secure a stunning victory.
