The 40-year-old Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal believes that the India National Cricket Team are heavily dependent on the star batter Virat Kohli and they are struggling because the 33-year-old is not among the runs.

The modern-day batting great Virat Kohli, who has scored 70 international centuries, is going through an unprecedented lengthy lean patch. His struggles continued on the ongoing India tour of England 2022 as he has registered scores of 11,20,1,11 and 16 across 5 innings in Test, T20I and ODI cricket.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal said that Kohli has single-handedly won several games for India and when he returns to form India’s performance will see a massive improvement.

He said: “It is evident that the Indian team is struggling because Kohli is not among the runs. The side is heavily dependent on him. He has single-handedly won so many games for India.

“He was batting well in the last game before he got out. His dedication is exemplary, and when he comes out of the rut, India’s performance will also improve.”

The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman added that he is one of Kohli’s many fans.

He added: “When such players are in form, it is a big motivating factor for the younger generation. I am also one of his many fans. The sooner he returns to form, the better. Fans all around the world want to see him back among the runs.”

Akmal further said that Kohli has the passion to do well for his team and his passion will help him to return to his best.

He asserted: “Everyone is talking about Virat Kohli, that he is not in form and is not performing. He has the passion to play and perform. I feel his passion will help him make a comeback.

“He has that ability. He is a great player and every cricketer goes through such a phase. His bad patch has carried on for a bit too long, but Kohli will come out of it.

Kohli will be seen in action in the third ODI against England, which will be played on Sunday at Old Trafford, Manchester. After that, he is expected to directly participate in the Asia Cup 2022, having been rested for the entire 8-match limited-overs series against the West Indies.
