IND vs ENG: Shardul Thakur Has Done Good Job But India Should Have Included Hardik Pandya In Test Squad – Harbhajan Singh

Former India National Cricket Team off-spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya should have been included in India’s Test squad for the rescheduled match against England National Cricket.

Hardik Pandya was in insane form in the Indian Premier League 2022 as he scored 487 runs in 15 matches and bagged eight wickets. In the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa and Ireland, the all-rounder did a good job.

Overall, Hardik has played 11 Test games for India and scored 532 runs at an average of 31.3 and with the ball he has picked 17 wickets at an economy of 3.38 and an average of 31.1. He last played Test cricket for India in 2018 and since then he has been out of the Test setup due to his inability to bowl consistently.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh said that the fast bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur has done a good job for India but still Hardik should have been part of India’s squad for the one-off Test against England. Speaking to Sportskeeda Harbhajan said:

“I feel India should have included Hardik Pandya. It’s only one match and seamers are expected to do well in England. Yes, Shardul Thakur has done a good job but if Hardik Pandya is there in the team, it would be really good. The batting then gets a big boost and the bowling department also gets some cover.”

Sharing his views on the 5th Test between India and England Harbhajan said that India have the talent to win this match. He elaborated:

“It’s a big game without doubt. England have a new team led by Ben Stokes. But, they have a lot to prove. On the other hand, India have a great chance to win a series in England after many years. India have the talent to win this match. It will be a big series win, if they achieve it.”

The 5th and last Test match of the series between India and England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp, will be played at the Edgbaston, Birmingham from Friday, July 1.
