Ex-cricketer Darren Gough lauded Team India opening batsman Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. He stated that the two batsmen performed admirably against England’s impressive pace bowlers in the first ODI.
Shikhar Dhawan’s enthusiasm was mentioned by Darren Gough. He mentioned how the left-hander could play some incredible shots through the offside.
In the first ODI of the series on Tuesday, the Indian spinners dismissed England for a pitiful total of 110. The best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, concluded with outstanding stats of 6/19.
The Indian openers put up an unbroken 114-run stand for the first wicket, giving the visitors an astonishing 10-wicket victory in the match. Sharma scored 76 runs off 58 balls, and Dhawan added 31 runs off 54 pitches.
‘Rohit Sharma hit some unbelievable shots’: Darren Gough
The former England pacer Darren Gough praised Rohit Sharma for having a good attitude throughout the Oval run-chase. He claimed that despite the difficult circumstances, the Indian batsmen were able to confidently reach the total and appeared at ease.
“I like Shikhar Dhawan deeply. He has a great deal of style. He makes some amazing shots via the side. He was Rohit Sharma’s understudy when we last saw him, yesterday.”
“Sharma started off hot and made some incredible plays against some quality bowlers. Reece Topley and David Willey are examples of people who have been around for a while. However, they made it appear so simple, and that too on a challenging pitch.”
On July 14, when the two cricketing powers square off in the second ODI of the three-match series, their competition for superiority is ready to continue. The contest will take place at Lord’s in London.
