“One Of The Most Deserving Players Finally Gets His Debut Cap Today” – Twitter Reacts As Arshdeep Singh Makes His India Debut

The 23-year-old left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is making his T20I debut for India National Cricket Team in the first match of the three-match T20I series against the Jos Buttler-led England National Cricket Team at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on Thursday, July 7.

Arshdeep Singh made the name for himself in the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the Punjab Kings franchise. Overall, he has played 37 Indian Premier League games and has picked up 40 wickets at an economy of 8.35 and an average of 26.4.

Arshdeep Singh, who was a member of the U-19 squad that lifted the World Cup in 2018, picked up 10 wickets in 14 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at an average of 38.50, an economy of 7.70 and a strike rate of 30.00.

The young left-arm pacer’s numbers don’t show his true potential as his ability to nail perfect yorkers at will in any phase of the game makes him a deadly pacer.

Arshdeep was part of India’s squad for the five-match T20I series against the South Africa National Cricket Team and the two-match T20I series against the Ireland National Cricket Team. However, he didn’t get a chance to play.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh received his debut cap from India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma, who is making a comeback to the side after being rested for South Africa, and Ireland T20Is and after missing rescheduled Test against England after testing positive for Covid-19.

While talking about Arshdeep at the toss, Rohit said that the left-arm pacer has done well for his franchise in the Indian Premier League and is an exciting prospect.

“We are making him (Arshdeep) play, the other guys will have their chance. Arshdeep has done well in the IPL, looks an exciting prospect,” Rohit Sharma said.
