IND vs NZ: BCCI To Not Renew Paddy Upton's Contract

Paddy Upton, the mental fitness coach for the India men’s team, won’t be getting a contract extension from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Upton won’t be travelling to Bangladesh with a full-fledged India squad that will be captained by Rohit Sharma for three One-Day Internationals and two Test matches that are a part of the World Test Championships.
To assist the athletes in handling stress and overcoming obstacles, Upton was hired. He had some success, and Virat Kohli benefited from his advice. The 34-year-old had a miserable run before going backwards beginning with the Asia Cup in 2022.

Additionally, he spent time with KL Rahul, the vice-captain of India, who scored half-centuries to regain his form. The Indian opener, however, again struggled in the pivotal semifinal match against England. Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India, criticised him for “not doing anything with KL Rahul.”
Upton has already collaborated with Gary Kirsten; this was his second assignment with India. When MS Dhoni’s team won the 2011 World Cup at home, Upton was praised for his contribution. He has collaborated with numerous teams all over the world. He has played for the Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils (Capitals), and Pune Warriors during the IPL.
After the BCCI fired Chetan Sharma and the selection committee, Paddy Upton is going to leave. With India starting over in T20 Internationals, the Indian board issued a call for applications for new selectors.
Ravichandran Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik, and Mohammed Shami are expected to have their t20I careers ended as part of the squad’s ongoing clean-up.
Given that Hardik Pandya is expected to serve as captain for the West Indies and USA World Cup in 2024, even Rohit Sharma could lose his T20I captaincy.
