IND vs NZ: Gautam Gambhir Names Hardik Pandya And Prithvi Shaw As India's Future Captaincy Contenders

Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian batsman, thinks Prithvi Shaw might someday compete for the captain of India. Shaw was a more surprising choice because he hasn’t competed for India since July 2021, but Gambhir also chose Hardik Pandya, who has already captained India in T20Is.

Following India’s semi-final elimination from the T20 World Cup last month, Hardik has been considered a likely replacement for Rohit Sharma, at least in T20Is.

He has also accumulated some captaincy experience throughout time. He guided the newly-minted Gujarat Titans to their first IPL title in May and then, for the first time in T20Is, the Indian team on a tour to Ireland to a 2-0 series victory.
