The 2nd ODI of India vs New Zealand was washed out due to rain. Rishabh Pant, the dashing wicket-keeper batter has had a forgettable tour so far. The batter managed to score 15 runs in 23 balls in the 1st ODI and once again was seen throwing his wicket

Due to the wash out India & New Zealand, both teams shared 5 points each and now New Zealand is in the 3rd position with 125 points from 17 matches whereas India is on top of the table with 134 points from 20 matches. The Men in Blue would be aiming to square the series and end the tour on high.

Kris Srikkanth on Rishabh Pant

Kris Srikkanth was having an interaction with the media and was asked about Rishabh Pant. “Maybe you can give him a break and tell him ‘just wait a bit, come and play in India’, They haven’t handled him well. Are you going to wait for a couple of matches before giving him a break or remove him after one or two games? Yes, Rishabh Pant is not utilising the chances he’s getting. I am very disappointed – ennada Pant-u (what is this Pant)?” said Srikkanth.

“You are messing up these chances. If you smash into such matches, it’ll be good right? The World Cup is coming up. Already a lot of people are saying that Pant isn’t scoring so it’ll add fuel to the fire. He’s going to put pressure on himself. He needs to reinvent himself. He has to do something right – stand and play for a while and then go for it…He’s throwing his wicket away all the time.” he added.

Exciting Contest on Cards

India would be well prepared for all sorts of challenges. We had seen how India bounced back in South Africa ODI Series where they were 1-0 down. The management would be hoping that Suryakumar Yadav continues his good run in the 3rd ODI.

New Zealand on the other side, would want a good start from the pacers as they are not able to create pressure up front. All eyes would be on Tim Southee who has to lead the attack in the absence of star pacer Trent Boult.
