IND vs NZ: "India May Rue Not Giving Yuzvendra Chahal Even One Match Throughout The T20 World Cup 2022": Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa, a former wicketkeeper-batsman, believes that Team India may look back on the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and regret not having even once used Yuzvendra Chahal.
Despite being named to the World Cup roster, the leg-spinner did not make the playing XI in any of Team India’s matches, including the semi-final loss to England at Adelaide Oval.
Given that the T20 World Cup was being held in Australia, many believed that Chahal could show to be a valuable player. Despite the lack of a suspenseful turn, the broad boundaries might have been relevant.
While other teams’ leg-spinners like Shadab Khan, Adil Rashid, and Wanindu Hasaranga enjoyed successful seasons, the Men in Blue maintained to their strategy of playing two finger-spinners.
“Such decisions play a huge role”: Robin Uthappa
Uthappa noted that the spinner, who is from Haryana, should have at least been given the opportunity to demonstrate his skill under Australian conditions, and he said the following in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda:
“After everything gets over, we say that in hindsight this should have been done or that would have been better. This is why I believe that you need luck, especially in such big tournaments” Robin Uthappa said.
“Such decisions play a huge role. India might regret not giving Chahal even one match in the entire tournament. He could have at least been given a couple of opportunities to see what he can produce in those conditions” Robin Uthappa Added.
Chahal is yet to play in a T20 World Cup match; he was absent from the previous tournament as well. Last year, the selection committee chose Varun Chakravarthy, Rahul Chahar, and Ravichandran Ashwin over him for the team to compete in the UAE tournament.
Following their elimination from the T20 World Cup 2022, India’s hunt for an ICC trophy continued. The World Test Championship (WTC) final and the ODI World Cup 2023 may be their next significant competitions.
