The 23-year-old India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh shared his success mantra, saying that he always tries to learn from the senior bowlers in the team.

Arshdeep has emerged as India’s best bowler in T20Is in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and he has become a vital cog in India’s wheel in a very short span of time. In the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, he bagged 10 wickets in six games and was India’s leading wicket-taker.

In a video shared by the BCCI, Arshdeep revealed that he is learning to bowl hard lengths from Mohammed Siraj, knuckle balls from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and yorkers from Mohammed Shami.

“I always try to learn from the senior bowlers in the team (on knuckle ball), just like I am learning the hard length from you and the knuckle ball from Bhuvi bhai (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) and yorkers from (Mohammed) Shami bhai,” Arshdeep said in an interaction with Mohammed Siraj on bcci.tv.

“I always try to improve myself everyday and contribute for the team whenever needed and hope to step-up and perform well.”

In the third T20I between India and New Zealand in Napier, Siraj was the pick of the bowlers as he dismissed Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, James Neesham and Mitchell Santner to finish his spell with the figures of 4-0-17-4.

Arshdeep, on the other hand, complemented Siraj perfectly and dismissed Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell and Ish Sodhi to finish his spell with the figures of 4-0-37-4.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep said that the seniors have advised him to use slower deliveries to deceive the batters.

“I even had a thought that I can take a hat-trick or a five-wicket haul. But you did make a run-out and gave a team hat-trick. The seniors advised me to bowl length and slower balls to deceive the opponent,” Arshdeep said.

Speaking in the same video, Siraj said that he was delighted to perform well for India in the third T20I.

“It feels great to perform like this for the country. I have been preparing myself for a long time to bowl hard length. It was not easy to bowl hard length here. My simple plan was to play hard length,” Siraj said.

“Representing India is a different feeling altogether. My target in T20s is to pick up wickets but I always try to give less runs.”
