Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel wants express pacer Umran Malik and swing bowler Deepak Chahar to feature in India’s playing XI in the first ODI against New Zealand National Cricket Team.
The first of the three ODIs between Shikhar Dhawan-led India National Cricket Team and Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team is scheduled to be played at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday (November 25).

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Parthiv said that Arshdeep Singh should be rested by the team management for the first ODI. He stated:
“I will rest Arshdeep Singh, I want to see Umran Malik and Deepak Chahar there. This is a great opportunity to see these fast bowlers, the talented ones that have come from the last year’s IPL. They have gone onto do well in domestic cricket. Hopefully, they do well so that the pace battery, which is already good, can be bettered.”
The 23-year-old left-arm seamer Arshdeep has become a vital cog in India’s wheel in a very short span in T20Is. However, he is yet to make his ODI debut for the side.
There might be a toss-up between Lockie Ferguson and Adam Milne – Dinesh Karthik on New Zealand pace attack
During the same interaction, veteran India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik said that the Black Caps will field a combination of three pacers and two spinners – Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell – in ODIs against India.
He also opined that there will be a toss-up between Lockie Ferguson and Adam Milne for a spot in the playing XI. He said:
“When I look at the NZ team, I think they will obviously play with three pacers and two spinners, but this time there will be two finger-spinners in Bracewell and Santner. Bracewell, in the recent past, has done really well for New Zealand. When it comes to pacers, there might be a toss-up between Lockie Ferguson and Adam Milne.”
