Indian Cricket Team is all set to play a crucial T20I series against New Zealand starting on 18th November (Friday). The Men in Blue have named a second-string squad where the senior players are given a rest. India would be hoping to start afresh and make a statement that they are not done yet.

New Zealand would be well aware of the fact that any Indian side is tough to beat on a given day. India has the wood over New Zealand as in 2020 they had white-washed them by 5-0 in the T20I Series. The Black Caps have a great chance to take revenge.

Ravi Shastri On India

Ravi Shastri was seen in a virtual press conference organized by Amazon Prime Video and was asked about India. “There is an opportunity with this team in the future to identify roles for players, see the match winners as well as their duties, and going pretty much on the template of England. Because they are one team that really caught the bull by its horns after the 2016 (T20) World Cup (in reality, 2015 ODI World Cup).” said Ravi Shastri.

“They went, they sat down and said, ‘We are going to change our resources. We are going to identify the best players for that format of the game – whether it’s T20 or 50-over cricket.’ Which meant that if there were certain senior players who would sit out, then be it. And they got in youngsters who were fearless, who could adapt to that pattern of the game without having to change too much.” he added.

Great Chance for Youngsters

The likes of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill have a golden chance to make a statement to the selection panel. Shreyas Iyer would be eager to get some significant runs as he has been in and out of the team due to injuries and form.

Scoring runs against New Zealand won’t be easy as they have got quality bowlers present. With only 3 T20Is there are chances that the management may rotate the players. It would be interesting to see how the series unfolds as we can expect a cracker of a contest.
