Star India National Cricket Team middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, who is at the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, is eyeing a remarkable T20I batting record of the Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan in the India tour of New Zealand 2022.
The India tour of New Zealand 2022, which consists of a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series, will kick off on Friday, November 18, with a T20I game between the Hardik Pandya-led side and the Kane Williamson & Co. at the Sky Stadium, Wellington.

Suryakumar Yadav had a wonderful run with the bat in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, where England defeated Pakistan to win their second T20 World Cup championship.
In 6 World Cup innings, the No.1 ranked T20I batter smashed 239 runs at an amazing average of 59.75 and an exceptional strike rate of 189.68. The 32-year-old was also amongst the 9 players nominated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav Has 3 Games To Shatter Rizwan’s Huge T20I Batting Record
During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Suryakumar became the first batter from the India National Cricket Team to score 1000 T20I runs in a calendar year. Also, this was only the second instance of a batter scoring 1000-plus runs in a calendar year.
Overall in 2022, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 1040 T20I runs in 29 innings at an amazing average of 43.33 and a sensational strike rate of 185.71. He has smashed one century and 9 half-centuries in 2022.
The 32-year-old, who is popularly known as SKY, is 286 runs behind Mohammad Rizwan, who holds the record for scoring the most T20I runs in a calendar year.
Star Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan, who currently opens the innings for the Men In Green in the shortest international format of the game, had amassed 1326 T20I runs in 26 innings at an amazing average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 134.89 in 2021. He also registered one century and 12 half-centuries to his name in 2021.
The visitors will be once again dependent on Suryakumar during the three-match T20I series against New Zealand National Cricket Team. He will have a shot at rewriting history in T20Is and shattering Rizwan’s record to become the leading run-getter in T20Is in a calendar year.
