The 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand was called off due to rain. The Men in Blue were asked to bat first by the Kiwis as India managed to score 89-1 in 12.5 overs. Suryakumar Yadav played an unbeaten knock of 34 runs in 25 balls where he smashed 2 fours and 3 sixes and was looking threatening.

New Zealand would be somewhat relieved because once again Suryakumar Yadav was all set to unleash the attack. Due to the abandoned fixture, India & New Zealand shared 5 points and now New Zealand is at No, the 3 position with 125 points whereas India is at the top of the World Super League Table with 134 points.

Ravi Shastri on Suryakumar Yadav

Ravi Shastri was having an interaction with Amazon Prime Video and was asked about Suryakumar Yadav.

“He is one of the best players in the world if not the best T20 player. He has got the all-round game and he is devastating. On his day, if he bats 30-40 balls, he’ll win you the match because he scores at that pace and he demoralizes the opposition with the kind of shots he plays,” said Ravi Shastri

“He is much like AB de Villiers at his best. When AB played one of those special innings, it deflated the opposition and Surya can do just that. If you look at the numbers and law of averages, he is bound to have an innings like that. But if he gets past the 15-20-run mark, he makes it count as he showed in some of his earlier innings,” he added.

Critical Match for India

The 3rd ODI is quite a do-or-die contest for Men in Blue. They have a great chance to break New Zealand’s winning streak of 13 matches. The management has a strenuous task on their hands as they don’t have a 6th bowling option if they include Sanju Samson in the playing 11,

Head Coach VVS Laxman will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat as the bowling looks a bit fragile. The team would be concerned over the form of Rishabh Pant as the batter has had a forgettable tour so far. It would be interesting to see how the match fares as India would be hoping to end the tour on high.
