New Zealand National Cricket Team captain Kane Williamson lavished praise on the star India National Cricket Team middle-order batter, Suryakumar Yadav, after the second T20I game of the three-match series at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, on Sunday, November 20.
The World No.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav was at his absolute best in the game against the Black Caps and he demolished the Kiwi bowlers. The 32-year-old smashed unbeaten 111 runs off 51 balls, including 11 fours and 7 sixes. He batted with a remarkable strike rate of 217.65. This was his second T20I century as he had smashed his first T20I century against the Three Lions in England in July this year.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the New Zealand skipper said that they didn’t put enough effort into the match. Williamson praised Suryakumar for playing unbelievable shots and said that his knock was one of the best knocks he has ever seen. He said:
“It was not our best effort. Surya’s innings was out of this world. One of the best knocks I’ve ever seen. Some of those shots, I’ve never seen before.”
Losing the toss and batting first, Team India posted 191/6 on the board with the help of Suryakumar’s remarkable century. Chasing the target, Kane Williamson scored a half-century, but other batters failed and the Black Caps were bowled out for 126.
Suryakumar Yadav’s Innings Was The Difference – Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson further said that they didn’t get the momentum in the match, which was very frustrating. He said:
“They were outstanding, we weren’t up to mark. We didn’t get momentum with the ball, didn’t get enough wickets and didn’t get momentum with the bat either. It was frustrating.”
He added that Suryakumar’s “special innings” was the big difference in the match. Williamson even labelled Suryakumar as the “best player in the world ”. He stated:
“Again, I’ll say about Suryakumar, his innings was the difference. It did swing a bit (in the chase) and India did well to get some swing. Important to look at those few areas and improve. Need to look at the small margins. Sometimes, special innings can happen, Surya is the best player in the world.”
