IND vs NZ: "When You Have Rahul Dravid, Who Is One Of The Greatest Batters Of All Time, Then You Don't Need A Batting Coach" - Former India Captain Sunil Gavaskar

Team India were knocked out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 after suffering a humiliating 10-wicket loss against England earlier this week in the semi-finals at the Adelaide Oval. India have failed to win an ICC tournament for the seventh time in nine years, despite coming close again.
Batting first, the Men in Blue managed to score 168 for the loss of six wickets at the end of 20 overs. England chased down the target in just 16 overs without losing any wickets. England’s aggressive opening pair of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales hammered the bowling attack all around the park, and India were unable to make a comeback in this match.

You Don’t Want Too Many Members In The Support Staff – Sunil Gavaskar
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar feels that India don’t need a batting coach when Rahul Dravid is already the head coach of the team. The former Indian batsman also highlighted the large number of support staff within the national team.

“When you have Rahul Dravid, who is one of the greatest batters of all time, then you don’t need a batting coach. When Rahul Dravid says something and Vikram Rathour says something else, batters will get confused. You have to understand this. If you don’t want too many members in the support staff, don’t send them with the team. Take only those who are necessary,” said Gavaskar.
Players Get Confused On Whom To Listen – Sunil Gavaskar
The 1983 World Cup winner also stated that when there are too many voices in the dressing room, the players get confused.

“In 1983 World Cup, we had one manager. Same in 1985. When the team won in 2011, there weren’t many people as well. I’m surprised the number of support staff is higher than the team members. Players get confused on whom to listen,” he added.
Team India will now travel to New Zealand for a white-ball series comprising three T20Is and three ODIs. Senior players including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul have been rested from the T20I and ODI squads. Shikhar Dhawan will captain the ODI team, and Hardik Pandya has been selected captain of the T20I team, with Rishabh Pant serving as deputy.
