Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, is the most recent to raise concerns over Team India’s present absence of fast bowling options. Butt claims that the Indian management is happy to support pacers who bowl at 130 kph, which is not advancing the team.

After a few recent lacklustre performances, Team India’s bowling has come under scrutiny. They failed to pick up a wicket while defending a total of 168 against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal in Adelaide.

Team India lost the opening one-day international of the three-match series against New Zealand by seven wickets after failing to hold on to a total of 306 in Auckland. In a 221-run stand, Tom Latham (145*) and Kane Williamson (94*) broke all previous records.

Salman Butt commented on Team India’s problems with fast bowling on his YouTube channel, saying

“India must really consider whether they want to bring in and deploy their fast bowlers or remain with medium pacers. Why don’t you give speedsters a chance and let them gain experience? When you’re playing with those tried and true 130 kph bowlers, nothing seems to change, “ Salman Butt added.

“The strength of India’s bowling is very limited”: Salman Butt

Butt asserted that after evaluating the bowling of India for the series against New Zealand, the unit lacked aggression. Apart from Umran Malik, in his opinion, no one poses a threat to New Zealand batsmen.

“Team India’s bowling lacks venom that can harm New Zealand. Umran Malik bowled quickly. The runs he let up were because of his pace, but he also took wickets.”

“With the exception of the last 2-3 overs, he was not as costly as the others. On a solid-hitting track, the remainder of the bowling appears to be mediocre. On a good pitch, the strength of India’s bowling is very limited,” Salman Butt added.

Rain forced the cancellation of the second One-Day International of the three-match series between India and New Zealand on November 27 in Hamilton. On November 30, the third game will take place in Christchurch.
