The Virat Kohli captaincy saga is just not seeming to cool down after the latest round of revelations in the media. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had stated to the media that he had personally requested Virat Kohli to not step down from the T20I captaincy. But since Kohli didn’t listen to them, they felt there was no point in having two separate white ball captains and made Rohit Sharma the ODI and T20I skipper.
However, Virat Kohli, in an explosive presser, revealed that there was no request made for him to step down, which raised a lot of rumours between the rift between the Indian Test captain and the board. However, in the latest revelations, the chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma announced the ODI squad for the South Africa series and also said that every member of the selection committee had requested Kohli not to step down from the captaincy.

Former Indian opener and cricket expert Aakash Chopra feels this has just escalated things. Here is what he had to say on his YouTube channel:
“A little more fuel has been added to the fire which was already there because the clarification has come from the BCCI via Chetan Sharma, who is the chairman of selectors.”
Maybe there will be reciprocation from Virat Kohli: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra feels that with the Virat Kohli saga once again in the focus, another explosive press conference from the Indian Test skipper might be on the way. Here is what had to say:
“There should be no rumours and sources in 2022 although, after Chetan Sharma’s statement, the shots might have been fired and maybe there will be reciprocation from Virat Kohli’s side as well because till now that is what is happening – one person says something and the other refutes. It’s not nice at all, but if it happens, don’t be surprised.”
