The Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced that during the second Test match between South Africa and India which will be played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, it will organize celebrations recognizing the 30-year anniversary of sporting ties between the two countries.

South Africa had returned to international cricket after 22 years of isolation due to its racial apartheid policy. India was the first nation to invite them for an international series in 1991 when the two nations played three ODIs in India. Later, South Africa toured the West Indies to play their first Test match since 1970.

However, their first Test series at home came against India, when they toured in 1992 for four Tests and seven ODI matches. Kepler Wessels captained the South African team, while Mohammad Azharuddin was the Indian captain. The home side won the Test series 1-0 and the ODI series 5-2.
