Indian wicket keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is concerned about Hanuma Vihari’s position in India’s Test squad.
Hyderabad batter Vihari was not included in the Indian squad for the New Zealand Test series and instead was sent to South Africa to play for India A team.

Vihari scored 151 from three innings at an average of 75.50 against the South Africa A team so far in the two unofficial Tests.
Don’t know what will happen to Hanuma Vihari: Dinesh Karthik
Mumbai player Shreyas Iyer had an incredible start to his Test career as he scored 105 & 65 on his debut against New Zealand in Kanpur.
Karthik feels that most of the batters are performing well enough, so the question of how the Indian team management fits Vihari in the squad will be a puzzle.
“This whole group of KL Rahul, Rohit and Mayank will be the three openers, followed by Pujara, Rahane and Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill will be the batters. Don’t know what will happen to Hanuma Vihari. Ideally, he should have been part of the squad, but sad that he had to go and play for India A,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.
“Are they going to fit him in when he comes back to the squad? Because everyone here has done enough to hold on to their places. Even the ones getting 30s and 40s, which cannot be undervalued, have looked set on tough wickets.
“Kanpur and Mumbai were not easy wickets. They applied themselves and played good shots. So where does a Vihari fit in? That’s an important question. Has Iyer done enough to come and take over Vihari’s place,” he added.
Vihari was part of India’s Test squad against England in the away Test series, which is yet to be completed. He last played for India against Australia in the Sydney Test where he and Ravichandran Ashwin stood tall to force a draw as India later bagged the series 2-1.
