Expect KL Rahul To Rain Centuries After Centuries- Sunil Gavaskar

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has been extremely impressed with the way KL Rahul has performed in Tests in 2021. Rahul scored a magnificent 123 at Centurion against South Africa in the first innings. His crucial knock ensured that India took a decisive lead of 130 runs and ended up winning the game by a massive margin of 113 runs.

Sunil Gavaskar feels KL Rahul was a bit inconsistent in the initial years of his Test career. However, now that he has found his rhythm, Sunil Gavaskar expects KL Rahul to score centuries in Tests regularly.

“He has always been a very very talented cricketer. Perhaps, he might agree with me that after he made his debut in 2016-17 (2014) and then those two or three years in between, he might have been an underachiever. But now that he has got his mojo back, now that he has got his confidence back, I expect him to rain centuries after centuries because he has got his hunger,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.

KL Rahul has had a brilliant 2021 in Tests, starting with the England tour, where he scored a sensational hundred at Lord’s. In that series, Rahul ended up with 315 runs from four games and was the second-highest run-scorer.

Sunil Gavaskar himself knows the feeling of having the satisfaction of scoring a hundred and feels KL Rahul has now got the momentum to get on a brilliant run.

“Once you got the taste of what a Test century means.. the pleasure of lifting the bat to the crowd or the changing room.. the entire change room applauding you, these are the moments that every cricketer or batsmen savour. Now that he has got the taste of it, we can expect hundreds from KL Rahul’s bat,” Sunil Gavaskar concluded.

The second Test between India and South Africa will be played at Johannesburg from January 5.
