South Africa head coach Mark Boucher is trying to focus on his job at hand while awaiting the court’s decision of racial allegations against him by former Protean cricketer Paul Adams. Adams spoke about facing discrimination against him for his skin colour. He said that Boucher called him “brown s***” during post-match team songs.

Mark Boucher has promised to fight and defend the allegations against him. But for now, he is focused on his role as the head coach of the national cricket team. South Africa are leading the three-match ODI series 1-0 and are looking for a series win against India.

Looking Forward To Defending These Allegations: Mark Boucher

“I look forward to dealing with and defending these allegations which have been made and will do so at the hearing in due course. For now, I am solely focused on my duties as head coach of the Protea,” Boucher was quoted as saying by News 24.

Paul Adams, on the other hand, revealed his allegations against Boucher at the Social Justice and Nation Building (SJN) hearings towards the end of 2021. According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), Adams will meet Advocate Terry Motau on the 26th of January to decide on how to take the court proceedings forward.

Mark Boucher, meanwhile will continue as the head coach of the side for the remaining two ODIs against India. CSA has not yet decided to re; lease him off his position.

South Africa, have a chance to win the ODI series if they beat India in the second ODI in Paarl on January 21. They beat India in the first ODI by 31 runs with the Indian batters failing to chase down 297 for victory.

“In the past, South African batters were known to dominate the seamers and come short against the spinners. We identified that as a weakness in our batting line-up. Credit to the coaching staff – Mark Boucher and more recently Justin Sammons – for giving us those tools to apply in the middle. We’ve come a long way in the way we approach spin and the way we think about spin, and executing those skills,” said Rassie van der Dussen ahead of the second ODI.
