Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has backed him to bounce back into form in the third Test in Cape Town. The Test match gets underway in Cape Town from January 11 with Kohli set to return into the playing XI. The 33-year-old batter has an average of only 26.08 in 14 Tests since the start of 2020, well below his career mark of 50.34. Sharma has backed him to get runs in the third Test.
Talking to ANI, Rajkumar Sharma said that Virat Kohli will bounce back into form and the Indian batting revolves around him. Kohli, unfortunately, had to miss the second Test due to back spasms but has recovered fully now.
Virat Kohli Will Bounce Back: Rajkumar Sharma
“He will bounce back with good performance. India’s batting order revolves around Virat. “India will definitely win the third Test and will secure a maiden series win, as we are in good form. However, we lost the second Test but there were opportunities there and some mistakes were made but I have full faith that skipper and coach Rahul Dravid will not repeat those mistakes” Sharma told in interaction with ANI.
He further said that Kohli’s inclusion will take off the pressure from the middle-order. In the bowling department, he said that Mohammed Siraj’s fitness will be key.
“With Virat coming back, there will be an effect on the middle-order as he absorbs a lot of pressure. In our bowling, Siraj’s fitness will be a key factor. If he will not play then who will play in place of him, Umesh or Ishant, that will be interesting to see,” he further said.
The Indian skipper seemed pretty relaxed himself when he was asked about his batting. He said that he is at peace with his game now and has nothing to worry about.
“I am at peace with how I am playing and what I am able to do for the team when there is a tricky scenario. I have nothing else to worry about. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone” said Kohli who will return as the skipper in Cape Town.
