IND vs SA: We Love Battle On The Field! Cheteshwar Pujara Speaks On Heated Moments Between India And South Africa In 2nd Test

Speaking on the verbal clashes between Indian and South African players in the ongoing Johannesburg Test, Cheteshwar Pujara has said that the current Indian team love battle on the field. Verbal battles on a cricket field are quite a common thing nowadays and ongoing India vs South Africa Test series is no different.
On day 3 of IND vs SA 2nd Test, Rishabh Pant and Rassie van der Dussen were involved in a verbal banter when the former came out to bat in the 2nd innings. Pant asked Dussen to shut his mouth while discussing a controversial catch. Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Marco Jansen also engaged in a war of words when the latter tried to sledge the Indian pacer when he came out to bat in the 2nd innings.

We Love Battle On The Field: Cheteshwar Pujara
When Cheteshwar Pujara was asked during the press conference about the verbals fights between players of both the teams in the match, the right-handed batsman said that the Indian players love battle on the field as it charges them up. He also asserted that India is a confident unit and they try to make the matches competitive.
“We are a confident unit. We stick together, we have won overseas together. So whenever there’s a battle, all the guys are charged up. They love the battle on the field. And whenever there’s someone who goes after our players, they’ll always get something back,” Cheteshwar Pujara said.
“Yeah, we enjoy the battle on the field and I think cricket has to be competitive and that’s what we try and work on. We’ll stick to what we have done, there’s a great team spirit and even going forward, this will continue and I hope that over a period of time, this will help us win the next WTC final,” Cheteshwar Pujara further said.
Talking about the IND vs SA 2nd Test at The Wanderers Stadium, India batted first and were all-out for 202 in 1st innings. Later, South Africa posted 229-10 in the 1st innings, grabbing a 27-run lead. In the 2nd innings, India started well but lost a few quick wickets in the middle, finishing up with 266-10 on the scoreboard.
India have built a target of 240 for the home side and South Africa are currently in the driver’s seat, with 118-2 on the scoreboard. On day 4, South Africa need 122 more runs to win while India needs to scalp 8 wickets. India leads the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opening game at Centurion by 113 runs.
