India completed a memorable win over South Africa in Centurion on Thursday and went 1-0 up in the series. Former Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar hailed Team India and lauded especially the pace attack that had done the damage to the opposition in the Test match.

Mohammed Shami was the star of the show with the ball as he picked up five wickets in the first innings and followed it up with three scalps in the second. South Africa skipper Dean Elgar credited Shami for the way he posed questions to the South African batsmen with his probing line and length.

Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and this is what he had to say:

“Superb bowling by an attack that can pick 20 wickets in a Test match anywhere in the world. Congratulations to #TeamIndia on a convincing victory!” Tendulkar tweeted.

Dean Elgar also mentioned Jasprit Bumrah, who was also among the wickets. Both Bumrah and Shami had made a successful bowling combination and Elgar acknowledged that.

“Yeah, I think, Shami obviously posed some issues for our right-hand batters. Obviously, his wickets in the first innings reflect on that. And I would say Bumrah also, he is someone that’s always running with energy, high energy, irrespective of if he’s going for runs or not,” Dean Elgar told ANI after the game.

“So he’s always going to challenge you as a batter You’ve got to be very mindful of facing both of them but saying that they’re quite a well-balanced attack at the moment now,” Elgar concluded.

India are 1-0 up in the series and will now try and take an unassailable lead by winning the second Test in Johannesburg from Monday.
