Rishabh Pant Registers Highest ODI Score By Indian Wicketkeeper In South Africa, Goes Past Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni

Young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has achieved an enormous milestone during the second ODI match of the three-match ODI series between India and South Africa at the Boland Park, Paarl, on Friday, January 21.
Pant played a terrific knock for the Indian team in the 2nd ODI and he scored 85 runs off 71 balls including 10 fours and 2 maximums, before getting dismissed in the 33rd over of the match by wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.

Pant’s score of 85 is the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman in the ODI game in South Africa. The previous highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper in South Africa was 77, which was scored by current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid in Durban in 2001.
Following Rishabh Pant and Rahul Dravid in the list of wicketkeepers with the highest ODI score in South Africa is MS Dhoni, who had scored 65 runs in Johannesburg in the year 2013.

During the India tour of South Africa 2021-22, Pant also smashed a century in the Test match and he had become the first designated Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to register a Test hundred in South Africa.

Winning the toss and batting first in the 2nd ODI Indian openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan did a great job and they added a half-century partnership. After that, India lost back-to-back wickets of Dhawan and Kohli in the 12th and 13th over and India looked in slight trouble.
Then, captain KL Rahul and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant batted brilliantly against the Proteas bowling unit. The duo played 111 balls and scored 115 runs, Rahul contributed 31 runs and Pant contributed 83 in the partnership before the former was dismissed by Sisanda Magala in the 32nd over. In the very next over Rishabh Pant was also dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi.
In the end, with the help of a decent 40-run knock by Shardul Thakur and a 25-run knock by Ravichandran Ashwin India posted 287 runs on the board.
