IND vs SA: South Africa Fined For Slow Over-Rate In The 2nd ODI In Paarl

Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team have been fined 20 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series against KL Rahul-led India National Cricket Team at the Boland Park, Paarl.
South Africa won the second ODI by 7 wickets against India to get an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Talking about the match, India won the toss and elected to bat first, the decision turned out to be a decent one for the side as openers had a half-century partnership. Also, captain KL Rahul and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had a 115-run partnership that helped India post 287 runs on the board.
Chasing the target, Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan added 132 runs. After that captain, Temba Bavuma and Janneman Malan added 80 runs together. In the end, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram had a brilliant partnership and they marched South Africa towards comfortable victory.
Meanwhile, the dead rubber third One Day International will be played in Cape Town on Sunday.

In an official statement released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), it was stated that South Africa were one over short of the target in the 2nd ODI against India after time allowances were taken into consideration.
“Match referee Andy Pycroft imposed the sanction after Temba Bavuma’s side was ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration. Bavuma pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing,” ICC said in an official statement.”
“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time. On-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Adrien Holdstock, third umpire Bongani Jele and fourth umpire Allauhudien Palekar levelled the charge,” ICC said in a statement.
