Aakash Chopra has criticized the management of the Indian squad for repeatedly switching up their starting lineup.
In the first T20I match against the West Indies on Friday, July 29, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Suryakumar Yadav played at the top of the lineup alongside Rohit Sharma.
As the Men in Blue set a lofty 191-run goal for the hosts, the pair put up a 44-run partnership. The game was ultimately won by the visitors by a commanding score of 68 runs.
However, Aakash Chopra criticized the Indian think tank for changing the opening pair in a video evaluation of the match that was posted to his YouTube account.
He elaborated: “How do you intend to use the openers? Why are they creating open musical chairs is a little perplexing. I want to ask the team management and the selectors: Have you created a revolving door?”
You will say we will make KL Rahul open when he comes: Aakash Chopra
India has recently experimented a lot with their opening combination, as Aakash Chopra noted, and future alterations to the position may be expected.
He clarified: “You will declare that KL Rahul will be made open when he arrives, and then you might declare that Virat Kohli will be made open. There is no denying that Rohit is certain on one end.”
“These days, players miss so many games that there have already been 25 or so brand-new beginning combinations.”
Chopra, though, was all praise for India’s Friday start, which was led by Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian skipper led the team with a 44-ball 64, while a teammate from the Mumbai Indians scored 24 off 16 shots.
