India won the thrilling first ODI of the series by a small margin of just 3 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Batting first, India were able to post 308/7 on the board with the help of the incredible performances of skipper Shikhar Dhawan, young opener Shubman Gill and star batter Shreyas Iyer.

Chasing the target, the West Indies batters looked in fine touch, but they were unable to score 15 runs in the final over of the match, which was bowled by the right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj, and they lost the match.
