IND vs WI: Rishabh Pant Finished The Game And Stayed Not Out, He Will Get Lots Of Confidence From It - Parthiv Patel
Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel was pleased with the responsible knock played by Rishabh Pant in the third T20I against West Indies, which India won comfortably by seven wickets with one over to spare.
Chasing down 165 on a tricky surface in St Kitts, Suryakumar Yadav had already put India in a winning position with his 76-run knock. Pant then came in and played a sedate 26-ball 33 to take the visitors over the line.
“That’s just the way Rishabh Pant plays, and as Ashwin said, not just the spectators but even the dressing room is on the edge of their seats when he is batting (laughs).”
“We always talk about how big a match winner he is and he will definitely get a lot of confidence as a T20 batter as he finished the game and stayed not out,” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.
“India needs to use Deepak Hooda at a better position” – Parthiv Patel
Deepak Hooda is in the form of his life but he isn’t getting chances with the likes of Shreyas Iyer being preferred over him in the T20I format. With two more games to go, the management might try to give Hooda a bump up in the batting order.
“The one cover drive that he (Hooda) hit went straight off the middle of the bat. Even the positions he was getting into while playing his shots showed that he had a lot of runs behind him and is in great form. India should make sure that they use him more often and at a better position,” he also added.
India has taken a 2-1 lead in the 5-match T20I series. The final two games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
