Saba Karim, a former Indian wicketkeeper, is uncertain of Shardul Thakur’s role within the Indian team.

Along with Yuzvendra Chahal, the Mumbai bowler finished with seven wickets in the just concluded three-match ODI series against the West Indies.

Karim believes Thakur was added to the team, but he has not been successful in doing so, in deepening Team India’s batting. The 30-year-old batsman managed just 10 runs in two games and gave away his wicket in the second match, which might have seen the entire Indian team collapse if Axar Patel had lost his composure.

Here is what Saba Karim had to say about Shardul Thakur’s performance on India News following the conclusion of the ODI series:

“Shardul Thakur had a wonderful series with the ball, but he must continue to be clear about his position. Due to the tight competition for team positions, if he is considered an all-arounder, he will need to contribute in both areas. There is no doubt that our current pool of fast bowlers is quite strong.”

Siraj has been a huge asset to the bowling team: Saba Karim

Mohammad Siraj was praised by Saba Karim for his outstanding comeback in white-ball cricket. The 28-year-old has played regularly in Test cricket but has frequently cost a lot in limited-overs matches.

“Siraj has been a tremendous asset to the bowling team. He seems unlikely to crack the starting lineup for India’s ODI team at one point. But he has sort of come back, bowled beautiful yorkers at the end and swung the ball forward, demonstrating that he belongs here.”

In the ODIs against the West Indies, India’s fast bowling attack was essentially backup talent. This demonstrates how strong India’s skill pool is, especially in the bowling department, which was previously unheard of.
