IND vs WI: Shikhar Dhawan Advocates For A Lively Dressing Room Atmosphere For Youngsters

Team India is set to take on West Indies in three-match ODI series with the first ODI match on Friday. India are coming fresh from beating England 2-1 in the ODI series last week and now they look to pose the supremacy against the Windies.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have named a second-string squad for the three ODIs. Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the ODI leg of the Caribbean tour.
Shikhar Dhawan to lead India in three ODI matches against WI
India’s opening batter Shikhar Dhawan will lead a 16-member squad against West Indies in the three ODIs. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named Dhawan’s deputy only for the ODI series.
This would be the second instance for Dhawan to lead the Indian team for an ODI series with his first and last experience being the Sri Lanka tour last year in the same time frame.

Dhawan touched upon creating a lively atmosphere in the team dressing room and making the young players comfortable within it.
“I’m very excited. Whenever I get a chance to work with the youngsters, I feel I can share my experience with them. Everyone does skill work, but I like to speak about the mental aspect and bring an impact to their games,” Dhawan said ahead of the first ODI, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.
“We have a great bond. We had been to Sri Lanka [last year] and bonded well there. There is an understanding, which is very good. I feel my energy and nature are such that we’re all together.
“That liveliness within the group creates a good bond. There’s always fun and games, and a lot of laughter. Earlier, we had team dinners and team activities. Now, we do reels too. If people are happy with it, it makes us happy,” he added.
All three ODI matches will be held at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, with the first match beginning on Friday (July 22).
