Shikhar Dhawan praised Shubman Gill, who completed the series with the most runs from either side and said the youngster bats similarly to Rohit Sharma, widely regarded as one of the best ODI batters of all time.

Although Rohit Sharma did not play in the West Indies ODI series, stand-in captain Shikhar Dhawan believes his opening partner’s absence was felt by a rising Indian batter.

“Gill is a very intelligent player with excellent technique. He reminds me a little bit of Rohit, in my opinion. By the way, he hits, he appears to have plenty of time. It is encouraging to see he scored 98 today. He knew how to convert those fifties into 90s” Dhawan remarked On Wednesday.

‘It feels good to see as a skipper’: Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan emphasized how strong local systems, such as the IPL, have exposed players to intense circumstances so they can now reproduce those responses on the international level.

“The boys are acting in fairly mature and sensible ways for their young age. They do a good job of handling the pressure. The transition to international cricket becomes pretty simple because of our domestic cricket and the IPL because of that exposure. “Congratulations to the boys,” They have been pretty realistic and disciplined, “said Dhawan.

Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Prasidh Krishna led India’s fast bowlers in the unavailability of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

“Siraj bowls quite well. His confidence has significantly risen. He is aware of his obligations. He supports him. So it becomes simple for me as a captain. As a skipper, it is satisfying to see that the boys understand their roles and what needs to be done “said Shikhar Dhawan.

India swept West Indies in a three-match series at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on Wednesday.
