IND vs WI: Suryakumar Yadav Has Proved He Has The Game To Attack In The Powerplay: Rajkumar Sharma
Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, has been quite happy with the way Indian sensation Suryakumar Yadav has adjusted to his new role at the top of the order in T20Is. The 31-year-old has routinely provided Team India with flying starts, and that is most likely what is expected of him right now.
Suryakumar Yadav batted at No. 4 against England at Trent Bridge last month and struck a remarkable century. So when captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid stuck with Yadav at the top of the order and the explosive Rishabh Pant at No. 4, even against the West Indies, many people were surprised.
India Wants To Make The Most Of The Powerplay And That Is Why Suryakumar Yadav Has Been Made To Open: Rajkumar Sharma
However, Rajkumar Sharma said on India News Sports on Sunday that the task of enhancing the powerplay has been assigned to Yadav.
“The experiment to open with Suryakumar Yadav was criticized a lot. But Yadav has proved that he has the game to attack in the powerplay and perhaps that is the new tactic of the coach and captain.
They want to make the most of the powerplay and perhaps that’s why they must have defined these roles for Yadav and Pant.”
Former Indian cricketer Reetinder Singh is also certain that Suryakumar Yadav will continue to begin the innings in T20Is, with Pant batting at No. 4.
The Men in Blue will have another chance to put their bench to the test against the West Indies in the fifth and final T20I on Sunday in Florida. India would want to win the series 4-1.
