Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that KL Rahul will be back in the playing XI whenever he is fit but his position in the batting order will be debated following India’s win in the 4th T20I against West Indies.

Suryakumar Yadav has been given the opportunity of opening the batting with Rohit Sharma and he has been mighty impressive. His attacking intent is extremely effective in the powerplay and the management will be keen to let him open the innings in the future as well.

He will be in the team, but it will be interesting to see where KL Rahul bats. You will have two (Rahul and Virat Kohli) out of the top three batters who do not have the momentum [of playing the game] for quite some time.”

[On batting positions] Whatever you will do in the World Cup, stick with that batting order,” Chopra told on his YouTube channel after the fourth T20I on Saturday.

“I do not consider Ravichandran Ashwin an all-rounder” – Aakash Chopra

Chopra said that Ashwin may not be a typical all-rounder in the shortest format of the game unless he is moved up the order. Considering India has better attacking all-rounders in the team, Ashwin may not feature in the playing XI for the Asia Cup.

I do not consider Ravichandran Ashwin an all-rounder unless he plays at No.3, which he does for Rajasthan Royals. He is just a bowler. He will be there [India squad for Asia Cup] besides Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya,” he also observed.

Rohit and co. will be keen to end the West Indies tour on a win with the fifth and final T20I set to be played in Florida on Sunday.
