Twitter Reacts As India Register 4-1 Series Win With Huge Victory In 5th T20I Against West Indies

India defeated West Indies in the fifth and final T20I to record a 4-1 victory in the 5-match series and finish the white-ball tour on a high.

Batting first, India rode on the opening partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Rohit Sharma sat out and his replacement, Iyer, took the initiative in the powerplay.

He raced away to a fifty while Kishan looked scratchy at the other end. He eventually fell but Deepak Hooda joined hands with Iyer and built a momentum-shifting 76-run partnership for the second wicket.

Hooda fell after making a 25-ball 38 while Iyer was dismissed by Jason Holder for a 40-ball 64, studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes. A late cameo from Hardik Pandya propelled the total to 188/7 in 20 overs.

In the run chase, the Windies were jolted early by Axar Patel. He bowled three overs in the powerplay and gave away just 15 runs while picking up three crucial wickets.

The rollicking start set the Windies back and Shimron Hetmyer was left alone fighting a lone battle. The leg-spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc, destroying the backbone of the hosts’ batting order.

Hetmyer scored his fastest T20I fifty (28 balls) but it was nowhere close to enough. Apart from Hetmyer, only two other batters managed to reach double figures and they were eventually blown away for 100, handing India an 88-run win.
