Following a victorious white ball series against England, India will go to the West Indies for a three-match ODI series, followed by a five-match T20I series. With most of the regulars resting for the ODI series, they will return for the T20 series, with the exception of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

Before the first One-Day International (ODI) on July 22nd in Port of Spain, newly-appointed West Indies vice-captain Rovman Powell revealed his thoughts on what will be a difficult series against the Men in Blue, particularly in T20Is.

IPL Is The Best T20 League In The World: Rovman Powell

Powell told Hindustan Times Digital in an exclusive interview that the West Indies will have a chance to upset a powerful side like India.

“It will be an opportunity to upset India because they are the most favoured and are a fancy team. They are the better team at the moment if I am to be honest. It provides an opportunity for us as young cricketers in the West Indies side to stake a claim and make a name against the best cricketers of the world. I am looking forward to facing the Indian side,” the West Indies vice-captain said.

When asked which Indian bowlers he would want to face, he chose Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal, both of whom are not part of the T20I series, “Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal. They are the best crop of bowlers in India and definitely you want to test yourself against the best,” Powell said.

Rovman Powell also discussed his experience playing for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 and how it helped him prepare on the international level, “IPL is the best T20 league and if you go to the best T20 league in the world and rub shoulders with some of the best T20 players in the world it gives you that added confidence that shines in everything you do. I just wanted to put my name out there and put my best foot forward,” added the West Indies vice-captain.
