West Indies opener Shai Hope became only the 4th batter from his side and overall the 10th batter to hit a century in his 100th ODI match. Hope reached the milestone during the second ODI of the three-match series against India which is being played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain.

West Indies trails the series 1-0 after losing the first match on July 22 which was played at the same venue by a close margin of 3 runs while chasing 309-runs to win the match.

Nicholas Pooran the home side captain won the toss and chose to bat first. West Indies had to make a forced change as Gudakesh Motie was ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a fractured thumb and he was replaced by Hayden Walsh Jr.

India, on the other hand, gave an ODI debut to Avesh Khan, who replaced Prasidh Krishna in the Indian playing XI.

Shai Hope was the glue who held the West Indies innings together as he anchored one end, while the likes of Kyle Mayers (39 in 23 balls with 6 fours and 1 six) and Shamarh Brooks (35 with 5 fours) went after the Indian bowlers from the start.
