The second ODI match of the three-match ODI series between the KL Rahul-led India National Cricket Team and Regis Chakabva-led Zimbabwe National Cricket Team was played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Saturday, August 20.
India National Cricket Team won the second ODI game by 5 wickets to clinch the series 2-0. This was Rahul’s first series win as the captain of the India National Cricket Team. The third and last dead rubber ODI will be played on Monday, August 22 in Harare.

Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss, opted to bowl first in the match and they made just one change to the playing XI as Shardul Thakur replaced last game’s Player of the Match award winner, Deepak Chahar.

Zimbabwe National Cricket Team, on the other hand, made two notable changes as Tanaka Chivanga and Takudzwanashe Kaitano were included in the playing XI.
Zimbabwe’s top-order batting failure continued in the second ODI as they lost the wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 31/4, just like the first ODI.
Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Wesley Madhevere were cleaned up by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna while Shardul Thakur cleaned up Innocent Kaia and Regis Chakabva. In the current home season ahead of the second ODI, Zimbabwe had lost their first wicket at an average of 8.42 runs across seven ODI games.
There were high expectations from the veteran players – Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza – after the top-order collapse, but they were unable to play big knocks. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Raza for 16 in the 21st over and Deepak Hooda picked up the wicket of Williams, who scored 42 runs off 42 balls, in the 28th over.
The 28-year-old Ryan Burl fought well from the one end and scored unbeaten 39 runs, but no support from the other end resulted in Zimbabwe getting bowled out for 161 in 38.1 overs.

Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a three-wicket haul. Also, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Hooda picked up one wicket each.
Stand-in skipper KL Rahul, who is in Zimbabwe to get some game time ahead of the Asia Cup 2022, didn’t get the opportunity to bat in the first game as openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill completed the 190 run-chase.
Rahul opened for India in the second ODI along with Shikhar Dhawan, but was able to face just five balls and score 1 run before being dismissed by Victor Nyauchi.

Veteran left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan played a quickfire knock before being dismissed by Tanaka Chivanga in the 7th over. He scored 33 runs off 21 balls, including 4 fours.
Shubman Gill also scored 33 runs and Ishan Kishan was able to contribute only 6 runs. In the end, Sanju Samson (43), Deepak Hooda (25) and Axar Patel (6) provided the finishing touches to help India win the match by 5 wickets and seal the series.

@BCCI will be not happy with this win today because indian future batsman didn't represent dominated in 2nd odi against Zimbabwe.
If play against best bowling teams then results are disappointing for team india.
So managed to lots of pressure in odi, didn't play aggressively.— vishal (@ravipaakad) August 20, 2022
Sanju Samson is far far better wicketkeeper-batsman than ishan kishan…he is so natural in shot making..he should have been backed more @BCCI @ImRo45 @chetans1987 #BCCI #RohitSharma? @IamSanjuSamson

Shikhar Dhawan has way more match time and form than KL Rahul and Virat Kohli over the last few months.
He’s also a LHB.
His current season’s IPL record superior to Kohli.
As is his current batting chill.
Not playing the Asia Cup could be a blessing. #ZIMvsIND

KL Rahul misses the ball coming in and gets trapped on the pads ?
All ? on Gabbar and Gill now!
