Former Indian and Karnataka cricketer Dodda Ganesh rebuked Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for their trolling Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of their match on Wednesday at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. RCB outplayed KL Rahul & co by 18 runs and moved up to the second spot on the IPL 2022 points table.
LSG skipper KL Rahul asked RCB to bat first, the three-time IPL finalists dented early blows in the first over as LSG pacer Dushmantha Chameera reduced them to seven for two in the first over itself.
LSG vs RCB: RCB beat Lucknow by 18 runs
Chameera used the extra bounce to send off RCB opener Anuj Rawat on the fifth ball, not to forget the spectacular diving effort by Rahul to complete the catch at mid-off. Chameera didn’t stop there and dismissed Kohli for a golden duck as the batter got a thick edge off the extra bounce and flew to Deepak Hooda at the backward point.
However, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis stood tall and kept calm in the fragile situation as the South African guided the team to 181/6 with his valiant 64-ball 96, including 11 fours and a couple of sixes. Youngster Shahbaz Ahmed, who scored 26 in 22 balls, played the anchor’s role in the middle to his captain.
RCB bowled magnificently, especially in the slog overs, as Josh Hazlewood (4/25) and Harshal Patel (2/47) kept the pressure on LSG boasted of great finishers like Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni and Jason Holder. LSG were 18 runs short of the target as they finished at 163/8.
Dodda Ganesh wants LSG to change their tweet for RCB
Ahead of the game, Lucknow Super Giants posted their playing XI for the RCB game along with a cheeky comment for their opponents.
“Pesh hain aaj ke Playing XI 🏏 RCB beta, tumse na ho payega! (Presenting you our playing XI for today’s game. Son RCB, this is not your cup of tea),” LSG posted on its Twitter handle ahead of their match against RCB.
The LSG post somehow didn’t go well with Ganesh, who played four Tests and one ODI match for the Indian team.
“Friendly banters are always welcome in cricket. But trolling is not done. A new team calling a team which’s been part of IPL since 2008, Beta, is not banter. Kindly make amends, @LucknowIPL,” the 48-year-old wrote on his official Twitter handle.
After their thumping win against LSG, RCB responded with a hilarious GIF, which included KGF actor Yash’s famous dialogue from Chapter 1: ‘If you think you’re Bad, I am your Dad!’
