India National Cricket Team vice-captain KL Rahul lavished praise on the young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh after his outstanding performance in the first T20I match of the three-match T20I series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
India National Cricket Team dominantly won by 8 wickets against South Africa National Cricket Team in the T20I series opener at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, September 28.
Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar wreaked havoc with the ball and restricted South Africa to 106/8. Chasing the target, Suryakumar Yadav played a stellar knock and KL Rahul scored good runs to help India win the game.
In his first over in the match, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh castled Quinton de Kock for 1 and then on the last two deliveries of the over, he dismissed both Rilee Rossouw and David Miller for a golden duck. Also, he won the Player of the Match award as he ended his spell with the figures of 4-0-32-3.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rahul showered praise on Arshdeep. He said:
“He’s (Arshdeep) growing with each game and with each outing he gets better, he is somebody who has a big heart and I have seen him in close quarters while playing in the IPL.”
Notably, Arshdeep played the under the leadership of Rahul at Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rahul further highlighted that the young left-arm pacer Arshdeep was the main death bowler of Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022, despite star South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada being a part of the side.
“This season what he did for his franchise was phenomenal and to be the number one death bowler in a team which has Rabada speaks highly of him. We always want a left-arm seamer and it is great to have someone like Arshdeep,” Rahul further said.
