Young Punjab all-rounder Abhishek Sharma was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 6.50 crores in the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction after a decently lengthy bidding war. Abhishek had made his debut in the Indian Premier League for Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), who had bought him in the 2018 IPL auction for Rs 5.5 million.

Ahead of IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals traded him to Sunrisers Hyderabad, with whom he showcased the talent he had with both the bat and the ball. Overall in the Indian Premier League, Abhishek Sharma has played 22 matches, scoring 241 runs batting lower down the order, with an average of 17.21 and strike rate of 139.31. He has the highest score of 46, hitting 17 fours and 12 sixes in the process in the tournament.

His highest score of 46 came in his debut game for the Capitals where he smashed a 19-ball 46 in his debut game that included a hat-trick of boundaries (one four and two sixes) against one of the most reputed bowlers in world cricket, Tim Southee.
